Been ages since i last blogged... approx 2 weeks i think. Been kinda lazy to update, add pics, change blog song, etc... anyway, it's about 2 weeks to school reopening.... bidding starts, ivle active, etc. And i just don't feel like starting to mug. argh. Cannot!! i MUST pull cap!!!!
Anyway, got the FYP of my first choice, "Glaucoma Detection from Retinal Image using Machine Learning Algorithms". Haha... sounds cheem? maybe not to you, but to me, yup. I'm soooo gonna die. Haha.. i sorta chose this cos it's something new for me to learn, and the Prof is Friendly! that's the main thing. At least i know this prof will guide me along properly. =)
Beginning of July, sunday, i FINALLY went to USS, with yw, meng, cake, zi, bing, zy. I've always thought i'll end up going USS with RH indy pple. But after dragging sooo long, i just grabbed the chance to go with any group of friends who's going. And i'm really THANKFUL to join them. The last time i saw most of this grp was sec 4. I met up with cake and meng slightly more often. and very often with yw. But still... a grp of sec school friends in USS is sort of a novelty to me, esp since i used to be so noob and quiet in sec school. Met up with meng cake and yw for dinner today as well. Love catching up with them all.... *smiles*
Yesterday, thurs, i went back to school for FYP intro lecture. I got to eat the mini eclairs during the tea time FINALLY!! Muahahaha~ And after lecture, i went with edison and uday to central library to borrow storybooks while waiting for brandon to swim finish. OMG~ i never knew i was surrounded by FANTASY STORY readers!!!! both edison and uday read those kinda fantasy stories i always get hooked by. XD It's a pleasant surprise finding out that we've read the same books b4, etc... My fantasy storybook buddies have always been hongyi only. haha... *returns to read the book on king arthur*

Harry Potter
Before i touch on Harry Potter, a short update on my social life this past week. Tues, met up with hweesh for japanese late lunch/early dinner @ raffles city. After 1 sem of SEP! haha... thanks for the souveniers! =) and i also received Jean's postcard when i opened my letterbox! XD aww... i feel so loved by my friends. =) Though i'm not able to go SEP with my cui cap, but i've dear friends who sent me postcards and bought me gifts. THANK YOU!!!
Friday evening was badminton night with aquos + weixin. Ahhh... missed playing with them so much. If only we could make it a regular occurence despite our busy schedule. =( but then, my right arm, both calfs and butt, ache like shit. haha... and today, sat, went teoheng with hs and jy. A different kind of outing when compared with the usual indy gang. But nonetheless, very comfortable. It seems kinda strange now that i'm starting year 4. Year 1-2 were very concentrated in hall activities, and i found a clique to mix with. But slowly, some problems arise, relationship problems among some, etc... until, the comfortable feeling becomes strained. Slowly, some just withdrew from the clique we're just not as close in 'certain' ways. No more the unrestrained chats and 'suaning' going on. Year 3, i stayed at home, but somehow become closer to a certain few of those RH pple. Unfortuantely, cos of SEP etc... i sort of lost the closeness i had with them. Probably cos they are non-singaporeans and i really i really didn't make additional effort to contact them through facebook or msn. But i really much prefer meet ups to internet-methods of communication. That's why my msn is usually away or offline, and fb not active. Hmmm.. anyway, now that i'm nearing the start of year 4, hall life seems to be so different that i no longer feel the attraction, or the 'loss' of fun. I'm sure to miss choir, ryan, john, kevin, liling!, etc..... But then, hweesh and jy are no longer staying there too. awl is no longer close to us all either. The only singaporean left in Indy is crystal. Oh well... time to move on. Time to get serious for year 4, with my engine buddies to lighten the mood as usual! =)
Hokay! On to Harry Potter! A magical world created by words of an author. Main characters being harry. ron and mione. Bad leader, voldy. Good leader, albus. In between character, snape. I dunno about others, but ever since reading HP fanfictions, my fav characters are either mione or snape. Okay, mione probably cos the fanfics i read tend to paint her as the smart and awesome heroine, helping harry. But in the book, she's not as awesome as the fanfictions. Snape on the other hand, has little info given in the book, mostly because of the twist that he loves? or loved? Lily, and was a spy alllllll along~ SO! Who exactly is the real Severus Snape? The snarky dark potions master? Or was it all an act of a spy? No one knows. But no matter, one cannot deny that he's smart. He's powerful/strong enough to survive as a spy in death eater ranks. He is as slytherin as he can possibly be, but for being so loyal to lily, isn't he slightly hufflepuff-ish? for being so smart, isn't he rather ravenclaw-ish? and for being so courageous as to be a spy, suffer from crucios, and yet continuing this double role, so griffindor-ish? Don't forget, he grew up in slytherin, with his close 'friends' all being death eaters eventually. And yet, he draws upon strength to betray these only friends he ever had, for the good of all, to bring down voldy. I think he's such an awesome character to play around with in fanfictions, with so many different faces to him, that we never know which is his real self. That's why i enjoy reading fanfics. XD haha... Kk... It's abit extreme, but i really love fanfics, cos they can accumulate clues from all 7 books and built up an entire different outlook for a character. Take albus for example. Everything he does is for the greater good. But however griffindor-ish he's supposed to be, you can't deny he's a master manipulator, for leading on harry, handling the order, making use of snape, and hiding sensitive pieces of information from harry, etc... From another angle, albus can be rather power-hungry. Yes, he might keep away from dark arts, but his role as an order leader could also have already provided him the 'power' he needed.
All in all, it's really interesting to see characters play out in different scenarios. Draco Malfoy is another interesting character. You can't deny he's smart and good looking (at least that's what jk rowling seems to portray). He's a snobbish pureblood, coward at times. But what about after the war? when all the beliefs drilled into him comes crashing down? that pure bloods are not superior? Will he change? or will he remain that evil git? no one knows. =)
Lalala~ super long post. but my bottom line is: fanfictions are interesting when they paint out the different hidden personalities of a character! =)

i can't think of a title.
Been quite awhile since i last blogged. It's july already, one more month before school reopens. What have i done so far? Nothing. Feeling guilty? Slightly. But i don't really care anymore. It's my last LONG holiday before uni ends and job searching starts. I probably should do up some sort of resume before the holiday ends though.
Been staying at home like some sort of hermit/recluse, doing nothing but reading stories this past week. Thank god for some friends like yw to drag me out of house. =) and Eveline to organise watching Transformers3. =) Sats with Jacq and Pris have been absolute fun. =) All that's left so far is the USS trip with my sec school friends, and the long awaited meeting up with RH pple....
I probably should start looking at sem 7 modules and start selecting my TEs...
My mum's so weird! haha.... she's anyhow pairing up my friends. LOL. Cos everytime eveline asks me out, it's with brandon and james, then she says 'eveline likes brandon' is it?? Then cos everytime yw asks me out with meng and cake, my mum says yw likes either one of the boys. HAHAHA.... it's quite amusing how she thinks about friends who are close to guys. It's like just cos we're all close friends and we go out tgt, there MUST be some kind of attraction. =.='' When i tell her 'NOOO, it's not like that!!' She'll insist that it might be true and that "just because your friends nvr say doesn't mean it's not the case. If not, why always go out tgt." Aiyo..... I also dunno what to say. I mean, we go out cos we're all friends mah... close friends, good friends, etc... *rolls eyes*
It's like people believing that a guy and a girl cannot be simply close friends and nothing more. I don't see why not, seriously. *shrugs*
