Harry Potter

Before i touch on Harry Potter, a short update on my social life this past week. Tues, met up with hweesh for japanese late lunch/early dinner @ raffles city. After 1 sem of SEP! haha... thanks for the souveniers! =) and i also received Jean's postcard when i opened my letterbox! XD aww... i feel so loved by my friends. =) Though i'm not able to go SEP with my cui cap, but i've dear friends who sent me postcards and bought me gifts. THANK YOU!!!
Friday evening was badminton night with aquos + weixin. Ahhh... missed playing with them so much. If only we could make it a regular occurence despite our busy schedule. =( but then, my right arm, both calfs and butt, ache like shit. haha... and today, sat, went teoheng with hs and jy. A different kind of outing when compared with the usual indy gang. But nonetheless, very comfortable. It seems kinda strange now that i'm starting year 4. Year 1-2 were very concentrated in hall activities, and i found a clique to mix with. But slowly, some problems arise, relationship problems among some, etc... until, the comfortable feeling becomes strained. Slowly, some just withdrew from the clique we're just not as close in 'certain' ways. No more the unrestrained chats and 'suaning' going on. Year 3, i stayed at home, but somehow become closer to a certain few of those RH pple. Unfortuantely, cos of SEP etc... i sort of lost the closeness i had with them. Probably cos they are non-singaporeans and i really i really didn't make additional effort to contact them through facebook or msn. But i really much prefer meet ups to internet-methods of communication. That's why my msn is usually away or offline, and fb not active. Hmmm.. anyway, now that i'm nearing the start of year 4, hall life seems to be so different that i no longer feel the attraction, or the 'loss' of fun. I'm sure to miss choir, ryan, john, kevin, liling!, etc..... But then, hweesh and jy are no longer staying there too. awl is no longer close to us all either. The only singaporean left in Indy is crystal. Oh well... time to move on. Time to get serious for year 4, with my engine buddies to lighten the mood as usual! =)

Hokay! On to Harry Potter! A magical world created by words of an author. Main characters being harry. ron and mione. Bad leader, voldy. Good leader, albus. In between character, snape. I dunno about others, but ever since reading HP fanfictions, my fav characters are either mione or snape. Okay, mione probably cos the fanfics i read tend to paint her as the smart and awesome heroine, helping harry. But in the book, she's not as awesome as the fanfictions. Snape on the other hand, has little info given in the book, mostly because of the twist that he loves? or loved? Lily, and was a spy alllllll along~ SO! Who exactly is the real Severus Snape? The snarky dark potions master? Or was it all an act of a spy? No one knows. But no matter, one cannot deny that he's smart. He's powerful/strong enough to survive as a spy in death eater ranks. He is as slytherin as he can possibly be, but for being so loyal to lily, isn't he slightly hufflepuff-ish? for being so smart, isn't he rather ravenclaw-ish? and for being so courageous as to be a spy, suffer from crucios, and yet continuing this double role, so griffindor-ish? Don't forget, he grew up in slytherin, with his close 'friends' all being death eaters eventually. And yet, he draws upon strength to betray these only friends he ever had, for the good of all, to bring down voldy. I think he's such an awesome character to play around with in fanfictions, with so many different faces to him, that we never know which is his real self. That's why i enjoy reading fanfics. XD haha... Kk... It's abit extreme, but i really love fanfics, cos they can accumulate clues from all 7 books and built up an entire different outlook for a character. Take albus for example. Everything he does is for the greater good. But however griffindor-ish he's supposed to be, you can't deny he's a master manipulator, for leading on harry, handling the order, making use of snape, and hiding sensitive pieces of information from harry, etc... From another angle, albus can be rather power-hungry. Yes, he might keep away from dark arts, but his role as an order leader could also have already provided him the 'power' he needed.
All in all, it's really interesting to see characters play out in different scenarios. Draco Malfoy is another interesting character. You can't deny he's smart and good looking (at least that's what jk rowling seems to portray). He's a snobbish pureblood, coward at times. But what about after the war? when all the beliefs drilled into him comes crashing down? that pure bloods are not superior? Will he change? or will he remain that evil git? no one knows. =)

Lalala~ super long post. but my bottom line is: fanfictions are interesting when they paint out the different hidden personalities of a character! =)
